Adviser Escapes Felony Charge Because "It Could Jeopardize His Job"
A "justice is blind, but only
because it has its head up its butt," bonehead award.
Dr.
Milo, a New York City physician, suffered spinal injuries,
bleeding in the brain, additional serious injuries, and will
now
face multiple surgeries and a lifetime of pain because Smith Barney
financial adviser, Martin Joel Erzinger, hit him with his Mercedes Benz
and then sped off, leaving Milo for dead. Milo's career as a
surgeon is almost certainly ruined. Erzinger did try to deal with the
damage to his Mercedes though.
But unlike you, Erzinger will not be charged
with a hit-and-run felony, or any serious breach, because the
Colorado District Attorney
has decided that doing so could jeopardize Erzinger's career.
Gives new meaning to the term, "reaching financial independence." The
incident, regardless of charges being raised, should ruin Erzinger's
career. But won't. There's little justice here.
"Mr
Erzinger struck me, fled and left me for dead on the highway,' wrote
Dr. Milo. "Neither his financial prominence nor my financial situation
should be factors in your prosecution of this case."
