People overcharged because
checkout lady's breasts were resting on the scales
A Channel Islands Co-operative supermarket in Jersey, in the
UK, had been overcharging customers for fruits and vegetables
because the checkout lady's breasts were resting on the scale. Her seat
was too low. She wasn't aware that her breasts were adding weight. It
was discovered when a customer complained that she was charged $2.60
for a green pepper.
What's a
breast weigh? About £5
On average, customers were paying about £5
more for their groceries (About $7.50).
She ought to have known the weights were off due to breast augmentation
when the scale wasn't reading "0" when empty.
