Shooting? Don't Forget To File A Grievance For
Missing Your Lunch Hour

day than just one hour"

14 people were left dead after a shooting spree on April
3rd in Binghamton, NY. Yet, one man, who remained inside the
Department of Social Services, safe and sound, felt that during the
shooting someone should have been concerned about his missing his lunch
hour and so he filed a formal complaint demanding that he get paid for
the missed hour.
"A lot of people lost a lot more
that day than just one hour," said Broome County Executive
Barbara J. Fiala. She vowed to fight it, adding that she was
both disappointed and embarrassed.
The request was denied by the county on the grounds that keeping
employees safe neither violated state labor laws nor union agreements.
