Corporation Spends Tons Defending Termination Over 2¢ Of
Personal Electric Use
Such non-cents
Oliver Beel, a 19-year company veteran working for an unnamed German
company, was terminated for using 2¢ of company electric to recharge
his Segway for 1.5 hours.
Why we need
lawyers
The company fought his unfair dismissal claim all the way to the
appeals tribunal where the dismissal was overturned with the judge
saying the punishment was disproportionate to the offense.
The court also cited Beel's 19-year history with the company and puzzled
over why the company does not prohibit cell phone and digital photo
frame charging at work?
