Dr. Uses Home Power Drill
To Save Boy's Life Because The Local Hospital Doesn't Have The Right
Tools. Wait! What?
This was no drill, but a real
emergency. A drill with a bit of good luck

Riding a bike is all fun and
games until someone needs the power drill.
A NOT!! a Bonehead Award
An Australian country doctor,
Dr. Rob Carson, realizing that a boy suffering a head injury from a
bicycle accident was building up dangerous pressure within the skull,
decided he had to do something fast; that the boy would not survive the
helicopter ride to the hospital otherwise. And since the local hospital
did not have the right equipment, he reached for his Black &
Decker power drill and bored into the boy's skull and saved the boy's
life.
Dr. Carson was on the phone during the procedure with a leading
Melbourne neurosurgeon and an anesthesiologist assisted him.
The boy is pretty much back to normal and now he should be introduced
to the other drill. The one about wearing a helmet while
riding on a bike.
