"We feel pain for veterans and
for the people who died in these damned death camps," said
a 72-year-old north Russian resident, when speaking of the new 500
ruble Russian note.

The crosses, which were atop the
Solovetsky monastery, were removed when the monastery
was turned
into a death camp in 1926. The banknote picture shows the building
without the crosses.
"Our banknote is the
only note in the world with a picture of a World War II
concentration camp!"
